What? A New Name?

cropped-joyunnewheader.jpgI know, I know. It all happened so fast! But I just couldn’t resist. So, why the change of name?

The name I ‚Äúchose‚ÄĚ in October of 2016 wasn‚Äôt really working for me anymore. It didn‚Äôt seem to be fitting, either. I thought over new name ideas, and after a while, I settled on ‚ÄúJoy Unspeakable‚ÄĚ.

cropped-untitled.pngTo define the words…

Joy¬†noun \ňąjoŐái\¬†the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying

Unspeakable¬†adjective¬†\ňĆ…ôn-ňąspńď-k…ô-b…ôl\ incapable of being expressed in words

If we phrase them together they read “great delight and happiness incapable of being expressed with words‚ÄĚ. Basically, inexpressible happiness.

15 Comforting Truths + Bible Verses

The feature image was giving me so much trouble today – moving the font so that it’d fit and formatting it all was challenging! It’s a good lesson to learn that not everything will work the first¬†sixth time!

_______________

Hi there! Okay… now that I’m done rambling and you’ve finished reading about my technical problems, it’s time to turn our thoughts and hearts toward higher things… in other words, Jesus!

Today, I’m sharing with you 15 comforting truths (with Bible verses) that I personally thought were really encouraging. I hope they are the same to you!

Christ is…

My Comfort – “The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.” Nahum 1:7

My Joy – “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” John 15:11

Food for Thought | Summer Edition

It’s a hot summer day, and that means two things.¬†

The heat is becoming unbearable, and your hunger levels are soaring. Let’s solve that issue by exploring some super yummy treats you can make this summer to pull out of the freezer and devour immediately! (I mean, hey. You have to splurge on¬†something this summer!)

Berry Yogurt Popsicles¬†Let’s talk about these for a minute. Fresh fruit + yogurt = yumminess, right? It also equals lots of good stuff for your body, too. Fresh berries are some of the most powerful disease fighting foods, because they are high in vitamin C and antioxidants. Well, would you look at that! In two sentences, we just found out that this treat not only tastes good – but it actually gives us some great nutrients, too!

No-Bake Ice-cream Cake¬†¬†The recipe description for this treat explains it perfectly… “layers of ice cream, homemade whipped cream, vanilla ice cream sandwiches, Oreo cookies, and hot fudge come together in this extraordinary cake”. ‘Nuff said.

Confetti Ice-Cream Pops Who doesn’t love confetti? How about confetti AND ice-cream? What could be better?! As the recipe says “beneath the confetti-candy covering of these ice cream pops lies a marvelous surprise: a soft-in-the-center miniature candy bar on a popsicle stick.” Sounds pretty good, huh?

No-Bake Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bars¬†Let us take a moment of silence for cookie dough *crickets* Okay, okay. Now let’s talk about these treats. The soft gooey goodness of cookie dough combined with chocolate chips sounds amazing, right? And the bonus is, the cookie dough is actually safe to eat! They have all the flavor of real cookie dough without actually using it. Mind-blown, I know.

No-Bake S’mores Cheesecake¬†Of course we can’t forget about s’mores. But wait. I’m not talking about the classic campfire treats. I’m talking about s’mores in a cheesecake. Okay, now who couldn’t resist that?!

Banana Split Kabobs¬†You all know what kabobs are. But fruit kabobs? Now we’re talkin’. All you have to do is stick some ingredients on a stick, and thereby go. A perfect summer treat to enjoy every day of the summer. Well, maybe not EVERY day…

Raspberry Cheesecake Ice-Cream¬†Ice-Cream. Possibly the most well-known treat on the planet. Add raspberries and cheesecake, and you’ve got one of the yummiest foods ever.

All these treats sound so good to eat, and I am looking forward to (hopefully) trying to make at least one of these this summer!

A Mari Usque Ad Mare

“He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.” Psalm 72:8

Hey Y’all! It’s Canada Day! And that means that today’s post is all about Canada (of course).

Canada’s motto, a Mari usque ad Mare, translates from Latin “From Sea to Sea”. It’s amazing to think that 150 years ago, Canada became a country! Although, it is¬†kind of embarrassing knowing that we didn’t have to fight for our country’s freedom like the Americans did…. but anyways ūüėČ To celebrate Dominion* Day, I’m sharing with you 10 facts about Canada, that you may or may not have known before. I mean, hey – some of you probably didn’t even know Canada was turning 150…¬†right? Anyways, onto the facts.

  1. “Canada”¬†is an Iroquoian language word meaning¬†“Village.”
  2. Aside from being the second-largest country in the world, Canada is the most educated country (who knew? ūüėõ )
  3. The coldest it’s ever been was the year 1947…. it was -63 degrees Celsius… approximately -81.4¬†degrees Fahrenheit!
  4. In Canada, due to a chronic shortage of coinage, playing cards were once used as currency.
  5. The North American Beaver is the national animal of Canada.
  6. Canada has the largest coastline in the world, and more lakes than all the world’s lakes combined. We are sure one wet country!
  7. The U.S. / Canada Border is the longest international border in the world *cheers*
  8. Canada’s¬†official phone¬†number is¬†1-800-O-CANADA…. ūüėÄ
  9. The¬†Eiffel Tower¬†was¬†almost¬†temporarily¬†relocated¬†to¬†Canada¬†in 1967. Hard to believe, I know…. but hey, our langauges are French and English, so we’re kind of related, right?
  10. Stretching 1,896 km (1,178 mi), the Yonge Street in Canada is the longest street in the world!

To conclude this post, I’m going to share with you our country’s National Anthem.

O Canada! Our home and native land.
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts, we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free.
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.

Chorus:
God, keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada! where pines and maples grow.
Great prairies spread and lordly rivers flow.
How dear to us thy broad domain
From East to Western sea.
Thou land of hope for all who toil,
Thou True North, strong and free!
(Chorus)

O Canada! Beneath thy shining skies
May stalwart sons and gentle maidens rise
To keep thee steadfast through the years
From East to Western sea,
Our own beloved native land,
Our True North, strong and free!
(Chorus)

Ruler Supreme, who hearest humble pray’r,
Hold our dominion within thy loving care.
Help us to find, O God, in thee
A lasting, rich reward,
As waiting for the Better Day,
We ever stand on guard.
(Chorus)

Happy Birthday, Canada – the true, north, strong and free!

*Dominion of Canada is the country’s formal name, though rarely used. It first applied to Canada at Confederation on July 1st of 1867.
